Non-Hazardous Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe

Servings 5 cups

Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz cream cheese (room temp)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temp (1 stick)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Cream together cream cheese and butter until light and fluffy, 4 minutes.
  • Add powdered sugar on low for one minute.
  • Increase speed to high and cream for 5 minutes, until light and fluffy.
  • Add vanilla on low.

Notes

Enough for an 8 or 9-inch cake or 24-30 cupcakes.
To flavor, swap out the vanilla extract for others.
Add lemon or orange zest.
